Shamanic Journeying

Shamanic Journeying

Our overculture dampens our ability to imagine beginning in grade school.  It is our imagination which allows us to see the world as it is, not as we are told that it is.  It allows us to see the world with innocent eyes and create a new way of being.

Frances Weller writes in his book of essays In the Absence or Ordinary, “Imagination invites us to loosen our fused sense of identity”.  Journeying can help us rekindle our imagination, strengthen our ability to imagine, and prime ourselves for the creations we harbor deep within us.  What good is our gift when hidden from self and others?  We must go into the storehouse and sort through that which we no longer need and discover that which needs to be remembered, rekindled, and offered back to our life and the world.

Integration of a shamanic journey into a coaching session

A drum is used to stimulate the theta brainwave which is the waveform associated with the dream state.  With this drumbeat I guide my clients into their imagination inviting them to see what they need to see in order to manifest their intention.

Journeying Circles

We sit with collective intention as we embark on our individual journeys simultaneously.  I call them Circles because there is beauty and power working in a circle of others doing their work. We reflect on each other, bear witness to the process, and listen and speak with our hearts. It is in community that we heal, and our healing heals the community.
